SMT IV: Made a post about this recently, but I adored it and the only thing that I would say keeps it from being perfect is some gameplay aspects that were fixed in SMT IV: Apocalypse. It wasn't enough to make me not want to play it, but it does somewhat kill the idea of a replay to me. I also had a blast playing it, but it shows its age at points, namely in the lack of QOL. SMT Nocturne: Loved this game's atmosphere and generally unique setting in a JRPG. The sense of exploration in this game is near unparalleled even today. Skies of Arcadia Legends: Very solid JRPG. I hit a brick wall difficulty-wise and I just didn't feel like overcoming it. The story.exists, but that isn't the point of these games and it wasn't off-putting to me at all because the gameplay was addictive and highly customizable.

(N/A)ħth Dragon III: Code VFD: This was really fun. I think even rating it would be disingenuous because it wouldn't be fair to give it a 5 when it's obviously much greater than that objectively. I can admit everything is done at an incredibly high quality and there's a ton of effort and attention to detail in every corner, but I just can't bring myself to care at all. Xenoblade Chronicles: I can't explain why the game didn't click with me 's just not for me. As for the actual game, it was.okay? It shows its age very clearly, but it wasn't awful. SMT Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers: The aesthetic of this game appealed to me in a way I never expected and it sparked an interest in 90s cyberpunk anime in me. Another potential game I'd revisit if I can gather the courage to restart a game I invested 40 hours into. It made me more open to the idea of playing dungeon crawlers and I only stopped playing because my incredibly bad sense of direction doesn't mix well with complex and frustrating dungeon design. SMT Strange Journey Redux: A very solid entry in the SMT franchise. Most games here can be changed for about 0.5 but these are good ranges still I feelĪll in all, what have been your experiences with the games you played since the start of 2020 in a quick manner It falters with it overall spike in huge difficulty in end, grind fest, long battles, and somewhat uninteresting standard sphere and customization system. Has some of the most amazing rememberable moments in jrpgs with its cinematics.

9/10 Probably one of the best Final Fantasy stories about challenging dogma and free will to address pain. Sprites are amazing thoughįinal Fantasy 10. I’m sorry the battles felt very long, outdated, the world isn’t that interesting (beans.), and it was too grindy. Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga GBA 4/10 I raged quit. I wasn’t digging the world entirely/atmosphere somewhat and it lacked interesting side quests at end(didn’t like lindbulm city theme a lot as a side note,) 9.5/10 Basically explores the themes of Existentialism with a great combat system and overall pacing of the game. Loses points for overall unbalance, very grindy with a lot battles, and choir like inheritance system (sorry)įinal Fantasy 9.

Romancing Saga 2 7/10 Great branching mechanisms for non-linear experience with a class system.

It’s setbacks is that a guide is needed to make most of the game and the final boss is on the very hard side. Romancing Saga 3-10/10 The open world and non-linearity is a unique experience that rejuvenated my interests in JRPGs again for its creativity.
